The London Agreement is a facultative arrangement to common the burden of European patent translation. The EPC Countries who have ratified the Agreement or acceded to it agree to suspend the translation provided for the European patents, either in whole or in large part.
Countries with any of their official languages, English, French and German languages do not require any extra translations for the validation document. Examples of these countries are Belgium, France, Germany, Ireland, Liechtenstein, Luxembourg, Monaco and Switzerland and UK.
Countries whose official languages are not one of the above three languages generally require patent documents translated into official languages for EP validation. In these countries, you must submit the translated document to the official patent institution. Examples of such countries as Turkey, Albania, Croatia, Denmark, Finland, Hungary, Iceland, Latvia, Lithuania, Macedonia, Netherlands.
